USA bicycle adventure 2019

In May 2019, I travelled from Los Angeles to New York by bike. For an entire month, me and my road bike thundered across mountains, deserts, steppes, highways and through forests, for no particular reason. Or, I like to think I did it for science - under the pretense of figuring out: Is this a good idea? The answer to this question would be 'not particularily', but it was a good experience nevertheless! The ride totalled 5.763 km (3.581 miles), over the course of 30 days on the bike, and two rest days.

This is the photos and route info for my easy weekend trip from Stavanger to Oslo, which totalled 726 km.

Across Europe in 3 weeks

Europa Point Lighthouse (Gibraltar, built 1841)
This is a presentation of why & how I in May 2018 rode from the southernmost point of Europe, Tarifa, to my homeplace Oslo, Norway. By road-bike, unsupported, alone, with merely a 11 litres bag with stuff underneath my seat. 8 countries, 3.700 kilometres, 168 hours over 22 consecutive days.

Oslo to Almost Lindesnes

Gautefall, Norway, in autumn
A little less than two months ago, I journeyed through most of the Norway on my bike, from the northernmost point of mainland Norway, the North Cape, to Oslo. This trip of 2.347 km, or through 11.25 geodetic latitudes, was divided into 11 stages. It was always the intention to finish this trip, by riding to the southernmost point in Norway, Lindesnes. It's something charming about finishing things. Putting the memories in a photo album. I wanted to do this.

Nordkapp - Oslo, 11-stage cycling adventure

The North Cape, Europe's northernmost point
These are the memoirs of my North Cape to Oslo bicycle holiday adventure. On one day in June, I discovered I had two weeks in front of me where my employer didn't need me. With no plans, and being annoyed at everything that didn't go my way. I was especially out for revenge after the latest bicycle race, where my team again speeded off into victory, leaving me on the Dovre mountain all alone.

The Hardanger Fjord
My first multi-day cycling trip was from Bergen, on the west coast, to Oslo, on the east side of Norway.
